(After a gr3 boy checks his height)

*Mike: I grew! I grew!

*Nate (gr2 boy): That’s impossible! It’s not your birthday!

I overheard this during my first few months in the school where I am training to be a teacher. This is just one of the many conversations I heard throughout the school year. Every time this happens I have to stifle a laugh and look the other direction. These moments remind me of how it was to be a kid. I guess for this kid it made sense that we only grow during our birthdays because that’s when our parents would often measure our height.
